60 second time limit will be enforced! A $15.00 fine will be assessed to competitors who
violate this rule. The fine must be paid before you will be allowed to make your next run. It
doesn’t matter if your next run is another exhibition run that day or a run later in the season,
the fine must be paid. No exceptions.

Contestants who scratch from a class before the class starts will get their money back.

Contestants who scratch from a class after the class starts will NOT get their money back
and the show will NOT count as an attended show.

If the ground is torn up by a competitor circling a barrel or barrels excessively, we will re-
work the ground for the remaining competitors in that drag. The dragging order will remain
in its original position for the rest of the class.

DIRECTORS DECISION IS FINAL – NO DISCUSSION

8 & UNDER BARREL RACE

This is not an NBHA event. This is a KS02 event.

The 8 & under class is offered to independent riders and lead line riders. They will run in
the same class but lead line riders will not be allowed to place over an independent rider.
For example: if an independent rider takes longer but he/she is completing the run on their
own verses a lead line rider being lead through at a quicker pace. Places will be awarded
with standard point system.

Contestants do not have to be members of NBHA. They will not be eligible to run at
NBHA Youth World or Heartland Nationals. Independent riders can run at the Kansas
State Championships in the PeeWee division.

Contestants cannot run in both the NBHA youth class and the 8 & under class.

No more than two contestants can ride the same horse in this class per show.

Contestants will run the same barrel pattern as the NBHA Youth Class.

This barrel race will be a heads up barrel race, not a divisional barrel race.

Entry fees will be $5. $3 to the pot and $2 for awards. No timer fee.

Contestants must pay a $10 nomination fee and compete in 10 of the 8 & under barrel
races to be eligible for year-end awards. Points start after nomination fee has been paid.

We will pay back 1 place for every 2 contestants with a maximum of 10 places.

Every contestant will at least receive a ribbon and $1.00 at each race.

Note to Parents: This barrel race was designed to help children become better and faster
barrel racers. Once your child is fast enough to place in the 3D of the Youth Class, the
following year your child must move into the NBHA Youth Class regardless of your
child’s age.

KANSAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Members must compete a 3 sanctioned or fundraiser shows to be eligible for the Kansas
State Championships. (New rule for state – you may use a fundraiser race to count as one
of your 3 shows. Compete is defined as your back side in the saddle attempting to
complete the barrel pattern. It is not defined as paying your entry fee.)
REQUIREMENTS FOR KS02 YEAR END AWARDS
1. Contestants must be a current NBHA –KS02 member to qualify for year-end awards.
2. Each member must compete in 10 sanctioned KS02 barrel races. (Compete is defined

defined as paying your entry fee only.)

working requirements by earning 15 working points. No work points will be accepted
after the last race. They must be given to the director before the end of the last show.

saddle for the highest division. The rider will receive second place awards in the
division that they do not get the saddle in.

10. In the Senior class – If all requirements are met and we purchase saddle(s), the
saddle(s) will go to the division champion(s) with the highest amount of points.
11. KS02’s Year End Award Tie Breaking Method:

*If there is still a tie, then the member placing the highest at the shows wins top
position.
*If there is still a tie, the member earning the most money in that division.
*Flip a coin is used as a last resort only.
12. A youth/senior entry may carry over their time to an Open entry. An Open entry may
not carry their time over to a Youth/Senior entry. They will be given this option at the
time they pay their entries. A rider may not come up after the run and request to carry
that time over. It must be done when entries are paid.

PLEASE NOTE: Members can earn work points at our non-sanctioned barrel races.
However, these shows do not count as far as how many shows they competed at. Members
must compete at 10 sanctioned shows (total) for the year-end awards.
